JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – UFC president Dana White didn’t have any praise for Anthony Smith’s corner or referee Jason Herzog after the UFC on ESPN+ 29 vital tournament.
After a stable first round from Smith (32-15 MMA, 8-5 UFC), the fight took a huge flip for Teixeira (31-7 MMA, 14-5 UFC) within the second when he dropped and virtually knocked out “Lionheart” with a huge shot. Herzog let it toddle on and Smith come what might per chance per chance survived the flurry and escaped the round, but what came after became most attention-grabbing extra rounds of damage till the fight became mercifully waved off within the final frame.
Herzog took some post-fight flack for allowing the drawn-out beating, and Smith’s cornermen from Manufacturing unit X fitness heart took warmth, as successfully. UFC commentators Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder leveled criticism to both parties on the broadcast, and White sided with them, too.
“I draw (mediate we want extra corner stoppages),” White told reporter, along with MMA Junkie, post-fight at UFC on ESPN+ 29. “I didn’t mediate his corner became going to let him advance out, but that’s between them and their corner. And the ref might per chance per chance’ve stopped that within the fourth, too.”
White has been cageside for plenty of fights in his tenure as UFC president. Nonetheless, even he obtained a minute bit sorrowful searching on the one-sided contest play out. And he wasn’t the most attention-grabbing one.
“Us sitting on the outdoors it became a minute bit tough to notice,” White acknowledged. “Cormier became flipping out. Savor, flipping out.”
